"Look, it doesn’t happen twice."

Tom Hanks in Sleepless in Seattle explaining to his friends that he won’t fall in love again.

Watching my favorite Tom Hanks movie to sooth my wretched headache.

So I finally finished Laura’s birthday present. I’m only a few months late (her birthday is a bit after Halloween). But better late than never? … Right?

Anyhow, I made her a min-book called Things We Love: “Inspired by Kate Spade’s book of the same title, these pages are filled with things we love. While Kate’s book is a tribute to style and fashion, this one is a tribute to us. Happy birthday.”

St. Elmo's Fire

  • Kevin: Alimony, palimony, it's all financial. Love is an illusion.
  • Kirby: It's the only illusion that counts, my friend.
  • Kevin: Says who?
  • Kirby: Anyone who's been in love.

"Romeo Montague was the best boyfriend in the world. He may have been fictional, but he couldn’t live anymore when he thought his woman was dead and so he took his own life. THAT is what great boyfriends do."

— From Eric’s most recent blog post on social media. As someone who works in marketing and spends her entire day on social media as a job requirement, I could not agree more with his post. But this particular quote is my favorite part.

"… then he’ll awkwardly meet your parents. Next thing you know, he’ll name a font after you and bring you echinacea tea when you’re sick and follow you around like a lost puppy until you finally agree to marry him."

Seth, describing my future husband. My favorite part is the naming a font after me.

"Her hair her hair falls perfectly with out her tryin, her eyes her eyes make the stars seem like they’re not shining, she so beautiful in every single way.” Yeah I’ve been walking around all day with this song stuck in my head and I didn’t even realize it until I was about to meet with the Captain and couldn’t gather my thoughts … you really need to not be so awesome its making work difficult."

Meg’s amazing Navy boyfriend (he’s currently deployed).

I took this photo on my phone, so apologies for the bad quality.
A guy in my type II class made this for his final project. It’s a “typographical portrait” of his girlfriend. The white text creates the shape of the island she’s from and the words describe where/how she grew up. The ocean of black text represents her life at school, their relationship, and the person she’s developed into.
Whenever my friends need relationship help, I always give the same advice: Real love makes you want to be better, in all sorts of ways. True love inspires you to greatness. And this is a perfect example.
I don’t know if you can tell from the photo, but there’s an incredible amount of thought, dedication, and attention to detail that went into this project. The board itself is massive, about 30 x 40 inches. The frame was built by hand and there’s a piece of frosted glass to go over it (not pictured) that was also treated by hand. Also, on the back of that frame, he wrote out love letters that they’ve exchanged throughout the years. I assume this piece is going to eventually hang in their future home.
Every girl in that classroom looked at this project and said, “I wish a boy would make a typographical poster for me!” And someone jokingly asked, “So when are you popping the question?”
Now this is what true love looks like.

Cute. Maybe I’ll make these for Valentine’s day.

Yes, this is what my life is like everyday.

I only caught the last bit of this, but it all started because Harold ate a meatball. And Cora didn’t want him to. So she decided to chase him around the house. They were probably running around for a solid 4 or 5 minutes before I could stop laughing long enough to record this.
